Wonder Woman 1984 Review (Written by Steven Hayman Jr.)
Title : Wonder Woman 1984
Main Characters:
Wonder Woman ( Gal Gadot)
Steve Trevor (Chris Pine)]
Cheetah (Kristen WIig)
Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascall)
Summary of the Movie:
Wonder Woman is currently living in DC & has been stopping crime around that area for some time it seems like. She also works at a research museum & from my knowledge it is obviously a cover up for her identity but I also think it is to find ancient artifacts that belong to the Gods. There is this wish stone that was found & brought to their research lab & Diana ended up wishing for Steve Trevor to come back. Cheetah also asked to be like Diana & it happened & Maxwell Lord wanted the stone, & became the stone. After that they basically track down Max Lord throughout the movie trying to get the stone & when you wish for something, the stone takes something from you so Wonder Woman’s power was drained. To get what was stolen you have to wish away what you wish to the stone. We got to see the invisible Jet & Wonder Woman can finally fly. The Golden Eagle Armor.
What I liked: I like the movie. The invisible jet was awesome to see & Wonder Woman flying. The aesthetic of the movie is utterly beautiful. The action beets were cool. I love the use of the lasso in this movie. It doesn't feel like it just sits on her side the whole time. We get no sword this time (Thank the LORD). Pedro Pascall KILLED IT as Maxwell Lord. Really in a way carried the movie
What I didn’t like: The movie seemed like it was everywhere. The wish stone was so confusing to figure out after the first watch, that they had to spend the rest of the movie explaining the stone. There were def pacing issues and moments where the movie was just slow. The Golden Eagle Armor really served no purpose in my opinion. It was just a really dope comic book concept that got shoehorned into the movie. The suit is also supposed to be invulnerable too in the comics. To be honest with you I just expected more out of this movie. I just did not walk out completely satisfied. I like it, but it could have been way better. I also felt like the cheetah didn't get the screen time she deserved. She is supposed to be one of Wonder Woman's Arch enemies & she got 2 little fighting scenes really as a cheetah. I get Max Lord is the main villain but if that was the case then add another B-List Wonder Woman villain, don't just put in her arch enemy & then take away her powers in the end with no signs that cheetah will be returning. I felt like Cheetah was wasted in this movie.
RATING: 3 OUT OF 5
